Anirudha Bhattacharjee, a distinguished alumnus awardee of IIT Kharagpur, is an SAP consultant by profession, and an acclaimed author. His works include Kishore Kumar: The Ultimate Biography (2022) and RD Burman: The Man, The Music (2011) — both honoured with the National Award for Best Book on Cinema. His other notable titles are Gaata Rahe Mera Dil (2015), SD Burman: The Prince-Musician (2018), Lata Mangeshkar: My Favourites, Volume 2 (2025), and his personal favourite, Basu Chatterji: And Middle of the Road Cinema (2023).
Appupen is a writer and artist who has been creating comics, murals, and paintings in India since 2001.
His original universe of stories, Halahala, has given rise to cult graphic novels since 2009, including Moonward, Aspyrus, Legends of Halahala, and The Snake and the Lotus.
In 2023, his graphic novel Dream Machine, co-created with AI scientist Laurent Daudet, was published globally in English, French, and German. His latest, Vaadivaasal with Perumal Murugan, released in January 2025, is available in Tamil, English, Bangla, Telugu, and Marathi.

Burman - The Prince-Musician and Pure Evil - The Bad Men of Bollywood. A prominent columnist, he contributes to News18, Outlook, and The New Indian Express. Chirashree Indrasingh is an acclaimed poet and fiction writer from Odisha, with 11 short story collections and three poetry anthologies to her name. Her celebrated collection Saree explores the many dimensions of womanhood through the graceful metaphor of the saree. A noted translator, she has rendered works by Bhalchandra Nemade, Namita Gokhale, and Jayanta Mahapatra’s Sky without Sky (Puri poems) into Odia, and is known for her unique psychological insight, social realism, and lyrical simplicity. Chirashree currently serves as the Principal of UN College, Adaspur, Cuttack.
Dr Rakhshanda Jalil is an award-winning translator, writer, and literary historian, whose prolific career includes nearly 50 books and more than 50 academic papers and essays. Her notable works include Liking Progress, Loving Change: A Literary History of the Progressive Writers Movement in Urdu, a biography titled Dr Rashid Jahan: A Rebel and her Cause, and translations such as Intizar Husain’s The Sea Lies Ahead and Krishan Chandar’s Ghaddaar. Her recent essay collections — But You Don’t Look Like a Muslim, Love in the Time of Hate: In the Mirror of Urdu, and the upcoming Whose Urdu is it Anyway — showcase her literary depth. Through her organisation Hindustani Awaaz, Dr Jalil passionately promotes Hindi-Urdu literature and culture.
Dr Hiranmayee Mishra has been a leading figure in Odia literature for over three decades, with an impressive portfolio of 10 story collections, 3 novels, 1 poetry collection, 1 essay collection, and 1 travelogue. She recently translated the autobiography of renowned Odissi dancer Illeana Citaristi. Her contributions have earned her accolades from numerous literary organisations, including the Ford Foundation Fellowship in 2006, and the Best Alumni Award from the British Council in 2023. A respected scholar, she holds a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of York, England, and currently serves as an Associate Professor and Director of the Women’s Studies Centre at UN Autonomous College of Science & Technology, Adaspur, Cuttack, Odisha.
Ipsita Chakravarty, an award-winning journalist, has extensively covered conflict and identity politics in Jammu and Kashmir and North East India. She has contributed to prominent publications like The Times of India, The Telegraph, The Indian Express, and Scroll. Currently, she teaches writing at the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication. Her debut book, Dapaan, offers a polyphonic narrative of Kashmir's conflict.

KR Meera is a leading Malayalam writer and journalist known for bold, socially engaged narratives. Winner of the Kendra and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Awards, Vayalar Award, and PUCL Human Rights Award, she began her career with Malayala Manorama in 1993. Her landmark novel Aarachaar (Hangwoman) was shortlisted for the DSC Prize. Raghubir Yadav is a versatile Indian actor, singer, and composer, has left an indelible mark on theatre, film, television, and music over a decades-long career. From 1967 to 1973, he performed as an actor and singer in over 70 plays and 2,500 shows with the Parsi Theatre Company, traveling across India in caravans and performing on makeshift stages. Yadav’s accolades include the Silver Peacock Best Actor Award at the International Film Festival of India (1987) and the FIPRESCI Critics Award at Venice (1986) for his role in Massey Sahib, making him the only Indian actor to receive the former. Renowned for capturing the essence of tribal life and Odia heritage, he made history by winning National Film Awards for three consecutive years for Aadim Vichar, Pahada Ra Luha, and Sala Budhar Badla, the latter winning Best Odia Film at the 67th National Film Awards in 2020.
His films are noted for their lyrical storytelling and deep connection to Odisha’s cultural and literary traditions. Recognising his outstanding contribution to cinema, Sambalpur University conferred upon him an honorary Doctorate.

Susant Misra is an acclaimed filmmaker whose career spans over 37 years. His films have received National Awards and have been showcased at leading international festivals such as Cannes (Un Certain Regard), Oberhausen, Montreal, and Singapore & others.
A respected film scholar, he has taught at FTII, SRFTI, and Lalit Kala Akademi, and served on academic councils and juries, including IFFI Goa, MIFF, and the National Film Awards.
He is also co-founder and convener of the iconic Bring Your Own Film Festival (BYOFF) on the beaches of Puri, a celebrated grassroots initiative that has welcomed over 7,000 artists since 2004.
Dr Suvashree Lenka, a celebrated poet and social activist, serves as the state coordinator of Sambad Sahitya Ghara, and is a prominent figure in Odisha’s contemporary literary scene. Her poetry, widely published in Indian periodicals and magazines, has earned her numerous awards and honours both within and outside Odisha. Her notable works include Asha, O, Akashare Aji Janha Nahin, Nightscapes, Sei Shabdamane, Samaya ra Upakatha, Apni Paridhi Ka Akash, Ei Prustha ti Mora, and The Enchanted Stream. A distinguished public speaker, Dr Lenka is actively involved in philanthropy through organisations like the CWC and Juvenile Justice Board, championing social causes with passion.
Amol Palekar, a multifaceted artist, has shaped Indian theatre and cinema with his creative vision. A JJ School of Arts graduate, he began his career as a painter before an encounter with Satyadev Dubey drew him to theatre. Inspired by Badal Sircar’s ‘Third Theatre’ movement, Palekar transformed the Indian stage by bringing performances to unconventional spaces, like parks and garages. In the 1970s, his cinematic roles as the relatable ‘boy next door’ redefined Hindi cinema, with three consecutive silver jubilee hits cementing his stardom. As a director, he explored intricate social, and personal themes with finesse. Marking his 80th year, Palekar’s memoir Viewfinder, offers candid reflections on his journey, cultural collaborations, and a pivotal era in Indian arts. A staunch advocate for artistic freedom, he remains a bold voice against censorship, and for social change.

Anupam Patnaik is a National Award-winning filmmaker carrying forward the legacy of Amiya Patnaik Productions, a pillar of Odia cinema since 1984. With a background in Business and International Marketing, Anupam left a successful family business to pursue storytelling rooted in Odisha’s culture. His acclaimed films include Tulasi Apa (the first Odia film on Amazon Prime) and Pratikshya (National Award, 2023), now being remade in Hindi by Anupam Kher. Under his banner TechnoArt Productionz, blockbusters like Karma, and the cult web series Gangs of Puri, have redefined regional cinema. His upcoming film Ravaan continues his mission of telling powerful, rooted stories that resonate widely.
Divya Kandukuri is an Ambedkarite feminist writer, activist, and development professional committed to social justice. She is the founder of The Blue Dawn, a mental health collective foregrounding anti-caste and feminist politics, where she also serves as a trainer. Her work focuses on integrating discussions of caste, gender, and mental health into professional and public spaces.
An independent media practitioner, Divya uses digital platforms, particularly under the handle @anticastecat, to advocate for the rights of women, queer communities, and caste-oppressed groups. Her writing and activism are shaped by her lived experiences as an inter-caste, inter-faith individual, exploring intersections between caste, gender, pop culture, and mental health.
She previously worked as Research and Program Coordinator at Zubaan, a feminist publishing house and archive of women’s movements in South Asia. Divya has also collaborated with grassroots initiatives such as the Bebaak Collective and contributed to several Dalit rights organisations across the country.
A faculty member at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University since 1999, Mahalakshmi Ramakrishnan specialises in religious institutions, practices, and beliefs in India, drawing on historical sources in Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and English. Her teaching spans Indian and World History, with an emphasis on gender, culture, and social hierarchies.
Her acclaimed book The Making of the Goddess: Korravai-Durga in the Tamil Traditions received the Indian History Congress award for best book by a woman historian. Other works include The Book of Lakshmi, Art and History, and co-edited volumes such as The Economic History of India and Colonization: A Comparative Study of India and Korea. Her upcoming co-edited volume on South Asian goddesses is set for release in 2025.
She has held visiting positions at Humboldt University (Germany) and Kelaniya University (Sri Lanka), and is active in public history initiatives. She serves on several academic boards and advisory bodies, and was recently nominated President of the Ancient India section of the Indian History Congress (2024).
Sandhya Gokhale: Sandhya Gokhale is a dynamic civil rights advocate, storyteller, and artist whose work blends law, activism, and creativity. Known for her bold narratives and deep empathy, she has authored eight acclaimed feature film scripts, including Paheli (The Riddle), India’s official entry to the 2006 Oscars, adapted from Vijaydan ji Detha’s Duvidha. Her directorial work, Bhinna Shadja (Note Extraordinaire), a documentary on Padma Vibhushan Kishori Amonkar, is her most cherished achievement. Passionate about Indian classical music and social change, Sandhya, alongside her husband, Amol Palekar, champions a more just world through art and action.
Sucheta Mishra is a celebrated Odia poet and author whose literary career spans several decades. She has represented Odisha at the All India Poets Meet organised by All India Radio and has twice been invited to the National Symposium of Poets at Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal.
Sucheta recently retired as an Assistant Teacher at Convent School, Puri, and continues to be an important voice in contemporary Odia literature.
