Young sensation on the flute, JA Jayant is a renowned Carnatic flautist hailing from a family of eminent musicians. He was initiated into the world of music at the age of five by his grandfather and guru flute maestro late TS Sankaran.
Jayant is an artiste of national and international repute with major solo performances in international festivals such as Darbar Festival; Milapfest; Museum Rietberg, Zurich; DUCTAC auditorium, Dubai; John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington DC; Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival, Sydney Festival, Siri Fort, Delhi; Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mumbai; Madras Music Academy, Chennai, to name a few.
Jayant's virtuoso fingering and flute-blowing technique to present his music beautifully even in the very difficult lower octaves on the bass and double-bass, thick-walled bamboo flutes with perfect pitching and excellent tonal quality have won him lasting appreciation from rasikas, connoisseurs, senior musicians and his co-artistes.
Flute JA Jayant has performed over 1,600 concerts all over the globe since the age of seven, of which, some are collaborations with musicians like Pt Ronu Majumdar, veena player Rajhesh Vaidhya, Shehnai and Ashwani Shankar, mandolin player Rajesh, pianist Anil Srinivasan, to name a few.
